SETH

I prided myself on my control. There weren’t many incubi in the world and the ones that were? Insatiable savages. I vowed never to become such a monster. In my centuries of existence, I’d only slipped a few times. My father demanded my very best, and it was a challenge I took seriously. I wasn’t like the other sons and daughters. I was special.

When Agatha admitted that the three bumbling idiots kneeling before me were her mates, I saw red. The only thing that allowed me to retain control over my sanity was the fact she was still a virgin; I could sense it in her magick. I could smell it. So despite her claims, she could still be mine. She’d kept her promise and honored our contract.

I could work with that.

“Your mates,” I repeated, because I couldn’t think of anything else to say. My voice dripped with condemnation, and she winced.

“Look . . . I’m sorry,” she began. “But it’s hard to explain. They found me by chance in a local bar. They claimed my magick called to them, but I didn’t do it consciously. We’ve been together ever since.”

Her hands twisted anxiously in front of her, an affectation I noticed she reverted to when nervous. Those large eyes pleaded with me to understand.

Oh, I understood alright. Her magick was exquisite. If I was barely able to resist it, then a young vampyre, a wolf, and a warlock of all things didn’t stand a chance. I didn’t blame them at all. It was more impressive the wolf hadn’t immediately mounted her or that the vampyre hadn’t turned her. The warlock likely knew better, but was likely powerless to resist her pull.

Magick like Agatha’s didn’t come around too often, after all. That was why I’d been content to wait for all these years for her. I knew she’d be worth it.

“I won’t apologize,” Agatha said suddenly, her shoulders bunching with tension. “They are important to me, and my magick agrees. It’s upset and agitated when I’m not around them. Please.”

The wolf was glaring murder at me, but the warlock looked torn between terror and relief at finding Agatha. I sighed. I was lost as soon as Agatha had turned those eyes on me and said please.

“Magick is never wrong,” I began slowly. If it was true that her magick reacted positively to these men, then I would have to adjust my plans accordingly. After all, she was a witch. They weren’t known for being monogamous, and one as powerful as her would likely need several mates to keep her anchored. Perhaps her own personal harem. The real question was whether or not I could tolerate sharing. The vampyre was handsome enough, anyway.

I’d been involved in various pursuits with multiple partners at once before, but never with the multitude of magick I knew Agatha would likely release upon losing her virginity. If she wasn’t careful, she’d kill whoever she was with.

My eyes widened.

Perhaps that was the key—multiple partners, multiple anchors. Each
